Time Is Running Out to Get Free Solar Panels & Battery Storage in California

Thinking about installing solar panels in Sonoma County? You may qualify for the Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP), which can cover up to 100% of your solar battery or solar panel and battery storage installation costs.

Taylor Energy can help you claim these rebates, but you have to act quickly. The SGIP rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis and will run out soon.

Keep reading to learn more about how the SGIP rebates work, who qualifies, and how much you could save.

Why You Need to Move Fast

SGIP rebates won’t be available forever. Here’s why you shouldn’t wait:

  • Rebates are limited - This is a popular program, and rebates are going fast.

  • Rebates decrease over time - SGIP uses a step-down system. The sooner you apply, the more you can save.

What Is SGIP & How Does It Work?

The Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) is a state-funded program that provides incentives for distributed energy sources like home solar panels and battery systems.

It offers several incentives, including Residential Solar and Storage Equity (RSSE) Incentives. The RSSE incentives help income-qualified homeowners pay for residential solar panels and battery storage systems that lower their electric bills and provide emergency backup power during a grid outage. Eligible homeowners can claim incentives for solar panels with battery storage or just battery storage.

How Much Can You Save?

The SGIP program will pay a rebate worth $3.10/W for solar panels and $1.10/Wh for battery storage.

That’s enough to cover 50-90% of the cost of a rooftop solar panel installation for most houses and 100% of the cost of a solar battery. Most participants receive around $20,000 to $45,000 in incentives!

Who Qualifies for the SGIP RSSE Incentives?

The RSSE incentives are available to all income-qualified, residential electric and/or gas customers of major utilities in California. If your household income is below 80% of the area median income, you may qualify for incentives to cover most or all of your solar panel and/or battery installation costs.

  • Protection from power outages
